Vortices Observed and to Be Observed

چکیده
Linear defects are generic in continuous media. In quantum systems they appear as topological line defects which are associated with a circulating persistent current. In relativistic quantum vacuum they are known as cosmic strings, in superconductors as quantized flux lines, and in superfluids and low-density atomic Bose-Einstein condensates as quantized vortex lines. We discuss unconventional vortices in unconventional superfluids and superconductors, which have been observed or have to be observed, such as continuous singly and doubly quantized vortices in 3He-A and chiral Bose condensates; half-quantum vortices (Alice strings) in 3He-A and in nonchiral Bose condensates; Abrikosov vortices with fractional magnetic flux in chiral and dwave superconductors; vortex sheets in 3He-A and chiral superconductors; the nexus – combined object formed by vortices and monopoles. Some properties of vortices related to the fermionic quasiparticles living in the vortex core are also discussed. PACS numbers: 67.57.Fg, 03.75.Fi, 74.90.+n, 11.27.+d

متن کاملNickel-based Superalloy Layer Deposited on AISI H13 Hot Tool Steel Base Metal Using Explosion Cladding process
An experimental test was carried out to explosively clad solution annealed Inconel 718 superalloy on quench-tempered AISI H13 hot tool steel. A wavy with vortices interface geometry was obtained from this experiment. A gradual change in the wavelength along the direction of welding was observed which was due to a change in the impact angle, following the plate contacts. In this paper, the exper...
متن کاملNumerical Investigation of Rotating-Stall in a Stage of an Axial Compressor with Two Different Approaches
An unsteady two-dimensional finite-volume solver was developed based on Van Leer’s flux splitting algorithm in conjunction with “Monotonic Upstream Scheme for Conservation Laws (MUSCL)” limiters and the two-layer Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model was also implemented. To validate the solver, two test cases were prepared and the computed results had good agreements with reference data. The rotating...
متن کاملDetermination of significant sources generating low-frequency noise in horizontal axis wind turbines
Several studies show that the Low-Frequency Noise (LFN) of wind turbines could have harmful effects on human health even when it is infrasound. In traditional classifications, the LFN of upwind turbines is referred only to steady thickness and steady loading sources, and the effect of vortices is considered negligible. In this study, the LFN of a horizontal axis wind turbine is simulated in win...
